FAQ

  • How long will my henna last?
    • Depending on your skin type and occupation, duration will vary. Typically, a jagua henna will last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. However, it is possible to last longer.
  • How old do I have to be to get a henna?
    • Henna is great for all ages. However, if you are below the age of 16, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver for you. Children are welcome to try the jagua on their skin, but consider these points:
      1. Children are more active. Even if they are able to remain still during the application process, the paste takes about 45 minutes to dry. If it smears after application, the artist may charge a small fee to fix the henna.
      2. Children may have more sensitive skin.
      3. Children may not know all their allergies yet.
  • Who should get a henna?
    • Henna is perfect for everyone. It allows you to express yourself and be creative without having to worry about pain or permanence. Jagua is also preferred because it gives off a black pigment, similar to that of a permanent tattoo. Mehndi henna gives off more of a light brown or orange pigment, and does not last nearly as long as jagua.
  • What is jagua made of?
    • HennaCity‘s jagua henna paste contains: Jagua juice (Genipa Americana), Isopropyl alcohol, water, xanthan gum, citric acid, silica dioxide, sorbitol, potassium sorbate, lactic acid, Disodium EDTA
  • Do you do custom henna designs?
    • Yes, however, the artist has every right to refuse a design if deemed necessary.
  • How do I care for my henna?
    • The amount of time a henna lasts differs per person. See the Aftercare page.
  • Is Jagua safe?
    • Jagua is a natural product, making it safe for most people. However, it is possible to have an allergic reaction. If you are allergic to fruits such as apples, blueberries, or strawberries, this would not be a recommended product for you.
  • How do I know if I am having a reaction to the jagua?
    • The area around the henna may become slightly red and puffy. It may also begin to lightly itch or burn. If any of these symptoms occur while your artist is working, be sure to let them know. If symptoms persist or worsen, call a doctor immediately.
  • What do I do if I have a reaction?
    • If you notice any of the symptoms above, wash the area with mild soap and water, and remain calm. Taking an OTC antihistamine, such as Benadryl may ease your symptoms. If symptoms persist or worsen, call a doctor immediately.
